He is survived by: his sons, Barry Walker of Lawndale, Scott Thackerson (Gennie) of Shelby and Tony Abernathy of Shelby; his sister Christine Lovelace of Kings Mountain; and his grandchildren, Matthew Thackerson, Andrew Thackerson and Mason Abernathy.
