He was predeceased by: his parents, George Strickland and Mary Locklear Strickland; his children, Jack "Pop" Strickland, Glenda Ann Strickland and Ester Michelle Barnes; his siblings, Geroge Strickland, Jane Butler, Patricia Locklear, Myrtle Oxendine and Lou Nelson; and his grandchildren, Todd Strickland, Justin Strickland and Brandie Strickland.
He is survived by: his wife Minnie Lou Barnes Strickland; his children, Shelton Strickland (Annie Ruth) of Laurinburg, Margie Locklear (Fred) of Maxton and Sarah Arlene Sweat of Maxton; his stepson James Anderson of Laurinburg; and his siblings, Alford Strickland, Alex Strickland of Maxton and Shirley Strickland of Maxton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many special friends.
