He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Scott and Mary Anna Thompson Scott; and his siblings, Margaret Jennings, Frances Canipe, William S. Locklear, John Locklear, Roy Scott, Jr. and Ella Cummings.

He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Jane Goins of McColl, SC, James Robert Scott (Linda) of Red Springs, NC, Bernice Williams of Wagram, NC, Pearlie Rogers (Tommy) of Laurinburg, NC and Ennis Scott (Teressa) of Darlington, SC; his brother-in-law Sanford Cummings of McColl, SC; his niece Nancy Sanders Krystkiewicz; and his close friend Sheronica Smith. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
