He was predeceased by: his parents, Walters Boyd Byrd and Ester "Bea" Strickland Byrd; his brother Earl Boyd Byrd; and his siblings-in-law, Vonnie Jernigan Byrd and Roger DuRant.
He is survived by: his nephew Jason Byrd; his wife Judy Marlene Yates-Byrd; his children, James Yates of Laurel Hill and Tracy Freeman (Jason) of Hartsville, SC; his siblings, William "Buddy" Byrd (Denise) of Laurinburg, Bob Byrd (Jeanette) of Laurel Hill, Jayne DuRant of Zanesville, OH, Joyce Stubbs (Jimmy) of Bennettsville, SC and Linda Hayes (Charlie) of Gibson; and his grandchildren, Wil Keziah, Matthew Keziah, Megan "Boo Boo" Keziah, Elijah Yates and Ezra Yates. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
