He was predeceased by: his parent Wilbert Benton; and his siblings, Robert Daniel Benton and Linda Diane Benton. He is survived by: his parent Rethea Mae Ellis Benton; his wife Sarah Carlisle Benton; his children, Lisa Benton Jernigan of Laurel Hill, Crystal Lynn Benton of Laurel Hill and Jerry Franklin Benton (Christine) of Laurel Hill; his sisters, Carlisa Benton Tyson (Marshall) and Mary Frances Benton Steven (Richard); his grandchildren, Joshua Derrick Jernigan, Brittany Jernigan Woriax, Alexis Benton Bryant, Dallas Joseph Benton, Jarrett Alan Benton and Thomas Joseph Benton; his great grandchildren, Elijah Jay Woriax, Alaric Chase Woriax, Patience Serenity Jernigan, Sarah Ann Jernigan, Zander Bryant and Hunter Bryant; and his close friend Jerry Wright of Laurel Hill. He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and sisters.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
