He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Grooms and Helen Wright Grooms; his daughter Cathy Cofell; his siblings, Samuel Grooms and Mary Ruth Edwards; and his grandson Bryan Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Beulah Mae Grooms; his sons, Timmy Grooms of Raleigh, Gary Grooms of Hamlet and David Grooms of Laurinburg; his stepdaughters, Geraldine Robinson of Hamlet and Maxine Treat of Ellerbe; his sisters, Lee Woodard of Laurel Hill, Linda McCuiston of Rockingham, Carol Moffitt of Laurel Hill, Hilda Dohogn of Laurel Hill and Elaine Garrison of Chesterfield, SC; and his grandchildren, Danny Cofell, Jr., Jennifer Cofell, Donna Kay Robinson, James Robinson and Brandon Norton. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.
