He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Denton and Bernice Jones Howell of Virginia; his wife Addie Louise Lewis; his daughter Pamela Maire; and his siblings, Rev. Kenneth Howell, Graham Howell, Louise Osborne and Ada Lynn Duncan.
He is survived by: his children, Tony Howell (Leah) of Starr, SC, John Tim Howell (Nancy) of New Market, Maryland and Cynthia Robinson (Randall) of Lansing; his former wife Katherine Garrett; his stepdaughter Kathy Lynn DelVecchio of Cape Coral, Florida; and his sisters, Faye Blevins (Michael) of Fleetwood, Gaye Blizzard (Steve) of Greensboro and Alta Sue Elledge of Jefferson'. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a great grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews.
