He was predeceased by: his parents, Fitzhugh Carl and Blannie Emaline Spencer Sturgill; and his siblings, John Sturgill, Breece Sturgill, Rev. Paul Sturgill, Neva Nobles and Ruth Sturgill.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Walls; his sons, Greely Sturgill (Dawn) of Zionville and Johnny Sturgill of Lansing; and his grandchildren, Logan Sturgill and Lindsey Sturgill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 US Highway 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
