She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Phipps and Birtha Almedia Phipps; her husband Reggie Griffitts; her children, Lisa Ward and Michael Griffitts; and her siblings, Worth Phipps, Ray Phipps, Mary Brinegar, Ellen Eller and Lizzie Shumate.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Whitney Michelle Ward of Boone and Corey Jeffery Ward of Ashe County. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Generations of Ashe Assisted Living, 180 Chatty Rob Lane, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
