He is survived by: his children, Meredith Bare Smith (Jarrod), Sherre Bare Brogdon (Bob) and John Jeffery Bare; his brother Paul Bare (Sarah) of China Grove; his sister-in-law Fann Bare; and his grandchildren, Stella Drew Smith, Nora Mason Smith, Lauren McKnight (Jimmy), Christopher Brogdon (Leigh), Jason Parnell (Allison) and Logan Parnell. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and 14 beloved nephews and nieces.

A reception was held on Sunday, August 25th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Whitley's Funeral Home (1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, NC 28083).
