She was predeceased by: her parents, James Alton Starnes and Sonjia Sechler Starnes. She is survived by: her children, Chad Phillips of Burlington and Wendy Marie Carpenter; and her brothers, Doug of China Grove and Glenn Starnes of China Grove. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.
