He was predeceased by: his parents, Earlie Blackman and Lillie Bright Blackman; his brothers, William, Ray and Billy Blackman; and his son-in-law Eddie Malpass.
He is survived by: his wife Dora Smith Blackman; his daughters, Amy Malpass of Hallsboro and Jaimee Blackman (Jamie Welch) of Hallsboro; his sister Betty Sasser (Irvin) of Lake Waccamaw; his grandchildren, Kristie Soles (Danny) of Oak Island, Natalie, Lillie Malpass of Greenville, NC, Marley and Josephine Welch of Hallsboro; and his great grandchildren, Isaac, Trey and Laney Soles of Oak Island.
