He was predeceased by: his parent Eunice Faye Cook Herring. He is survived by: his sister Donna; his parent Robert Herbert Herring, Jr.; his brother Robert Herbert "Bobby" Herring, III; his friend Mike "Buddy" Sellers; his sister Linda Norris (Wayne) of Wilmington; and his nieces and nephews, Eddie Norris, Christie Augst, Terrie Easterling, Robert Summersett, Lori Hewett and Laura Clemmons.
