She was predeceased by: her parents, John Jackson Joy Sr. and Mable Bobblets Joy; her husband Edward Nelon; her siblings, Richard Meeks, Linda Poisson and Sharon Meeks; and her pet Perooney.
She is survived by: her children, Tina Peace (Vernon) of Landrum, SC, Keith Nelon (Dixie), Faith Smith Tryon (James) and Roxanne Fenten (Joe); her grandchildren, Brandon, Levi, Shelby, Amara, Waylon, Hazel, Paisley, Briar, Piper, Lincoln, Paxlei, Phoenix, Natalie, Tyler, Samantha, Tripp and Brayden; and her siblings, John Jackson Joy Jr., Edward Joy, William Joy and Tammy Hardesty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Cane Creek Baptist Church (365 NC-9, Lake Lure, NC 28746). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at the Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (365 NC-9, Lake Lure, NC 28746).
