He is survived by: his son-in-law Anthony Slater of Winston-Salem; his sons, David (Jennifer Ward) and Chris (Kendra Ward); his sister Lois Ann (Robert Blumenstein); and his close friend Margaret Ward of Galax, Virginia.. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
