He was predeceased by: his son William David James. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Harper James of Lake Junaluska; his children, Rebecca Roberts (Mark) of Trenton and Robert E. James, Jr. of North Augusta; his granddaughter Harper James of North Augusta; and his brothers, William Stanford James of Union and Joseph Nevell James.
