He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Howell and Geneva Cox Howell; his wife Joyce Dingley Howell; and his siblings, Pauletta Howell Goodson, Evelyn Howell Shelton, Devere, Cloyd and David.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia "Trish" Anne Howell of Lake Junaluska, Paul A. Howell, Jr. (Charlette) of Atlanta and John Norman Howell of Oviedo, Florida; his sisters, Nadine Howell Fountain and Kay Howell Shaffer; his grandchildren, Paul Arnold "Trey" Howell, III and Patricia Lynlee Howell Bradley (Austin); and his great grandchildren, Dallas Flynt Bradley and Amelia Cooper Bradley.
