He was predeceased by: his parents, Finnie Howard and Sadie Mae Howard; his wife Joyce Dudley Howard; his daughter Sonia Renee Howard; and his siblings, Mavis Rouse, Sadie "Darlene" Cox and Charles Linwood Howard.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Daron Gray and Deanna Gray; and his sisters, Alice Jean Dowdle and Elaine Hill.
