He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Akers and Vera Akers; and his siblings, James "Jim", Wayne "Cricket", Kenneth "Kenny", Robert "Rob", Andrew "Andy", Charles "Charlie", Louise Boyd and Ida Mae Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce A. Akers; his daughters, Donna Rae Elliott (Bobby) and Katrina Marie Akers (Kyle); his grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Douglas Elliott, Christopher Alan Kelso and Katie Ann Cornell; his brothers, Eugene and Thomas "Tom" Akers; his stepchildren, Cathy Humphrey (Kevin), Alton Brock, Jr. (Sherry) and Kevin Ray Shepard; and his stepgranddaughters, Danielle Davies, Hayley Brock, Kayla Marks and Amber Shepard. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and countless other family members and friends.
