She was predeceased by: her parents, D. Robert Braswell and Inez Pittman Braswell; and her siblings, James William Braswell, Robert Carlton Braswell, Linda B. Wooten and Charles Douglas Braswell.
She is survived by: her husband George Haywood Thornton; her children, George Haywood Thornton II (Sherry) and Pamela DeAnn T. Knott (Greg); and her grandchildren, Korena Thornton, Hayden Knott, Landon Knott, Megan Browning (Drew), Jonathan Mills (Taylor) and Bria DeRosa. She is also survived by five great grandsons.
