He was predeceased by: his father John Daniel; and his siblings, Betty Freeman, Mary Pittman, Barbara Rambeaut and Joseph Murphrey.
He is survived by: his wife Linnie P. Murphrey; his daughters, Jessica M. Clark (Don) of Goldsboro, NC and Donica M. O'Leary (Pat) of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Meredith Clark of Carolina Beach, NC, Madeline Clark of Wilmington, NC, Brooke Price (Gabe) of San Diego, CA, John O'Leary, Jr., Kill and Haley Kimbrell (Nathan) of Wilson, NC; his great grandchild Anna Grace Kimbrell; his siblings, Rochelle Kemp of Clayton, Jean Mason (Curtis) of Kannapolis, Brenda Hutton (Johnny) of Garner, Harvey Murphrey (Betty) of Knightdale and Yates Murphrey (Clara) of Zebulon; and his caregiver Jesse.
Donations may be made in his memory to the NC Baptist on Mission Disaster Relief Fund or the Bethlehem Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
