He was predeceased by: his parents, William Collins and Beatrice Pate Collins. He is survived by: his wife Hellen Black Collins; his children, Darlene Bethune (John) of Kipling, Brian Collins, Jr. (Shelby) of Angier and Lynda Gardner (Schel) of Angier; his grandchildren, Michael Weaver, Danna Wilson, Michelle Gardner, Meagan Gardner, Dylan Gardner and Willie Bethune; and his sister Faith Sanford of Fuquay-Varina.
