He was predeceased by: his wife Sue Pate; his parents, Walter Pate and Sarah Pate; and his brother James Pate. He is survived by: his daughters, Jenny Pate Evans (Jim) and Kelly Pate Davis (R. J.); his grandchildren, Jaime Evans Carroll (Trey) and Robert E. Davis III; his great grandchild Connor Carroll; and his siblings, Grace Gray, Vance "Jack" Pate (Jink), Ed Pate and Thurman Pate.
