He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall "Dude" Bryant Whitfield, Sr. and JoAnn Daugherty Whitfield; his daughter Alicen Forrester Whitfield; his aunt Forrestine Riggs; his pet Izzy; and his nephew Whit Connor.

He is survived by: his daughter Hailee Shrock (Johnathan); his granddaughter Emma Cannon Shrock; his friends, Glenn Spence and Morris "Gopher" Manning; and his aunt Sylvia Anders.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pinelawn Memorial Park (4488 US-70, Kinston, NC 28504).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his granddaughter, Emma, to the "Emma Cannon Shrock College Fund" to one day provide assistance with her college education; made payable to "Emma Shrock" and mail to Hailee Shrock at 1411 Gold Leaf Dr., Winterville, NC 28590.
