He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Wooten and Maybelle Gray Cole; his wife Sarah Mozingo Hinson Cole; his brothers, William "Bill" Cole and Kenneth Cole (Joyce); and his stepson Dalton Hinson.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Cole of Wilson; his son Grover Hardy Cole, Jr. (Cindy) of Rocky Mt; his daughter-in-law Frances A. Hinson of Kinston; and his sisters-in-law, Edna Cole of Kinston and Peggy Vandiford of Farmville. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
