He was predeceased by: his parents, James Rudolph Fordham and Hazel Simmons Fordham; his wife Peggy Waddell Fordham; his daughter Helen Jean Fordham; and his grandson Sean Scott Dail.
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Jane Marie Fordham, Sarah Beth Fordham McLawhorn (John) and Heather Leigh Fordham Davis (Mark); his great grandchildren, Kade McLawhorn, Maeleigh Davis and Anson Davis; his son Jim Fordham (Rene); his stepchildren, Timothy Hammond (Cindy) and Renae Bowen (Steve); his grandchildren, Brandy Schmidt, Jason Hammond and Jennifer Hammond; his great grandchild Joey Schmidt; and his children, Meriam and Lenny Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in George's memory to Southwood Memorial Christian Church, 1027 NC Hwy 58, Kinston, NC 28504 or to Wheat Swamp Christian Church, 3732 Wheat Swamp Road, La Grange, NC 28551.
