He was predeceased by: his parents, Esque Randolph Jones and Doris Dell Jones; his former wife Emma Frances Herring Jones; his wife Shirley Moore Jones; and his brothers, Randolph Jones and Preston Jones.
He is survived by: his daughter Cheryl Jones (Todd Miller) of Kinston; his grandchildren, David Ray Stocks of Kinston, Kyleigh Stocks of Kinston, Nick Quinn of Kinston and Amber Quinn of Kinston; his sister Carolyn Benson (Bobby) of Kenansville; his sister-in-law Julia Thompson of Kinston; and his close friend Jimmy Sutton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
