She was predeceased by: her parents, Vera Whaley and Leon Whaley; and her husband Lemuel Houston. She is survived by: her children, Minnie Lee Chase (Gurney), Nelson Houston and Janice Streblow (Pickett); her sister Georgia Monroe; and her grandchildren, Lisa Chase Miller, Kim Chase Grissom, Rhonda Chase Spence, Sherri Houston Meadows, Melanie Houston Avery, David Houston, Pickett Streblow and Amanda Streblow Short.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Edwards Funeral Home & Cremations (702 N Queen St, Kinston, NC 28501). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
