She was predeceased by: her mother Dora May Hinson; her husband Herman G. Thigpen, Sr.; her grandmother Hattie Swaney; and her siblings, Pauline Peak, Gracie Acuna, Claudia Barnes, Dora Worley, Brenda Hinson, Lynwood Summerlin and William Summerlin.
She is survived by: her children, Herman Thigpen, Jr. (Debbie) of Kinston, Teresa Miller (David) of Oregon and Michael Thigpen (Amelia) of Florida; and her grandchildren, Tracy Rayner (Jess) of New Bern, Drexel Miller (Amanda) of Alaska, Christopher Miller of Oregon, Michael Miller of Oregon, Jonathan Thigpen (Jessica) of Pink Hill and Brittany Moore (Tyler) of Kinston. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pinelawn Memorial Park. A reception was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 12:00 PM.
