He was predeceased by: his parents, W. A. Childers and Helen Skinner Childers; his daughter Janet Lee Childers; and his siblings, James Childers and Ann Moss.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Cook Childers of Kings Mountain, NC.; his daughter Cindy Mixter (Mark Andrew Mixter) of Wendell, NC; his sisters, Mary Hambright and Helen "Snooky" McAbee; his grandchild Ryan Mixter (Martha) of Wendell, NC; and his great grandchildren, Fox Mixter and Lincoln Mixter.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at the Stained Glass Room at First Baptist Church (605 W King St, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (605 W King St, Kings Mountain, NC 28086).
