He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Teal and Myrtle Mauney Childers; his former wife Alda Faye Childers; his siblings, Ray, James Childers and Annie Mae Berry; and his son-in-law Butch Ramsey.
He is survived by: his wife Doris McGinnis Childers; his children, Bobby Childers (Darlene) of Kings Mountain, NC and Judy Childers Ramsey of Martinez, GA; his stepdaughters, Elizabeth McGinnis, Laura Titshaw (Dave) and Julie Taylor (Danny); his sister Mary Goforth of Kings Mountain, NC; his grandchildren, Laura Thieben (Jake), Kenny Childers, Lee Ramsey and Alex Childers (Landon); his stepgrandchildren, Mary Newton (Adam), Daniel Robinson (Mandy), Toby Bollinger and Nathalie Combs; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Newton.
