He was predeceased by: his parents, Hollis Hayes and Eula Thomas Hayes; his wife Geraldine Summer Hayes; and his sisters, Maggie Shook and Mary Webb Varnadoe.
He is survived by: his children, Ronald William Hayes (Teresa) of Spindale, NC, Jonas Lynn Hayes (Melanie) of Kings Mountain, NC, Michael Eugene Hayes (Melissa) of Kings Mountain, NC., Gail Southard of Union, SC, Donna Moore of Woodruff, SC, Angela Fincher (Keith) of Spartanburg, SC and Patty Walker (Jeff) of Kings Mountain, NC.; and his grandchildren, Amanda Lyman (David), Trish Byers (Brian), Wayne Southard, Keith Moore (Misty), Brett Moore (Kelsey), Amy Turner, Christy Green (Dale), Jeffrey Walker (Hannah), Brooke Deason (Trey), Chasity Hamrick (Kevin), Chad Hayes (Crystal) and Brittany Payne (Ricky).
