He was predeceased by: his parents, William Surber and Myra Harbin Surber; his wife JoAnn Surber; his siblings, Bill Surber, Helen Goode, Gene Surber, Claire Greenway, Carl Surber, Earlene Jenkins, Eldora Barnette, Jeanette Heinbach and Margaret Surber; and his stepdaughter Sandy Sayers.
He is survived by: his children, Darrell Surber (Denise) and Sheila Posey (Danny); his stepchildren, Mike Sayers (Elaine) and Debbie Baumgardner (Rusty); his sister Marilyn Pheagin; his grandchildren, Jennifer Thombs (Daniel), Magan Bell (Tim), Hannah Surber, Kalen Baliles (Amanda), Blake Sayers and Mason Wallace (Casey); his stepgrandchildren, Stetson Weir and Maggie Barnes; and his great grandchildren, Bailee Bell, Taylor Etherton, Brianna Williams, Cole Thombs, Isaac Wallace and Tinley Sayers James. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at the Harris Funeral Home (108 S Piedmont Ave, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). A memorial service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel (106 S Piedmont Ave, Kings Mountain, NC 28086).
