He is survived by: his brother Dennis Forbes; his wife Edith Atwell Forbes of Kings Mountain; his children, Darrell Mitchell Forbes, Jr. (Annette) of Grover and Tina Forbes Champion (Mark) of Kings Mountain; his siblings, Lavenie Forbes Hawk of Anderson, H. F. Forbes (Janice) of Anderson, Betty Forbes Brewer of Anderson and Dewey Forbes (Phyllis) of Anderson; his grandchildren, Dustin Forbes (Jessica Panther) of Grover, Chelsea Champion Webster (Ryan) of Kings Mountain, Tiffani Champion Hudson (Andrew) of Winston-Salem and Hunter Champion of Kings Mountain; his great grandchildren, Landon Webster and Carter Webster of Kings Mountain; and his close friend Rick Moore. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Forbes' memory may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church or Veteran's Administration.
