She was predeceased by: her parent Dolphus C. Butner; her former husbands, DeWitt Slate and Al Ananew; her grandson DeVerne Slate; and her siblings, Tom, Mack, Lelah, Esther and Dorothy.
She is survived by: her parent Mary Augusta Fulk Butner; her sons, Horace A. Slate (Carol) of Clemmons and Kenneth W. Slate (Sherry) of Bluff Dale, TX; and her grandchildren, Melanie, Joy, Michelle, Chad and Misty. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
