It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald W Speight of King, North Carolina, who passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Donald W Speight to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul F. Speight and Mabel Redwine Speight; his brother Hugh Speight; and his sister-in-law Melba. He is survived by: his wife Fran Speight; his daughter Marty Speight; his son-in-law Tim Zierden of Marietta, Georgia; his son John Speight of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Avery Speight, Paris, Abigale Speight, Hayes Zierden and William Zierden; his great grandchild Liam Speight; his sister Barbara Hill; his brother-in-law Charles; and his brothers, Ernest Speight (Bernice) and Mitchell Speight (Faith). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of King (122 Kirby Rd, King, NC 27021). A burial was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM at the Skyline Memory Gardens (432 Old Buck Shoals Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
