He was predeceased by: his parents, Jan Lee and Janet Marie Smith of Newport, NC; and his siblings, Bill Smith of Wilmington, NC, Belinda Lee Smith and Edna Lynn Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Ginger Childress; his children, Christine Guthrie (Doug) of Harker's Island, NC, Kaycee Gray (Stephen Gray-Meadows) of King, NC, Bryan Smith of Saegertown, PA and Sean H. Smith (Cheryl) of Hampton, VA; his sister Vonne Smith Lankford (David) of Goldsboro, NC.; his grandchildren, Parker Guthrie, Evan Guthrie, Stephen Meadows, Kayson Meadows, Kinsley Meadows, Cole Smith, Harper Smith and Shawn Apthorp; and also Buddy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
