She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Ellis and Lila Gibbs Mason; and her sons, Cleron Overton Carawan, Jr. and William Myers Carawan. She is survived by: her son Benjie (Nancy Carawan) of Wanchese; her grandchildren, Ryan Carawan (Carree) of Edenton and Taylor Rohne (Tyler) of Portsmouth, VA; and her brother David Mason (Linda).
