She was predeceased by: her parents, William Avery Johnson and Nannie Osborne Johnson; her husband Elbert James Yates; and her siblings, Viola, Juanita, Dorothy, Mary, Nancy, Gladys, Violet Lee and Tommy.

She is survived by: her children, Jerry Yates (Marie), Judy Carter (Tommy), John Yates (Mary), Mark Yates (Anitta) and Beverly Yates; and her pet Mollie Dee. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
