He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Grubbs Vanhoy; and his parents, John Gideon Vanhoy and Dora Lee Sapp Vanhoy. He is survived by: his children, Michael Vanhoy "Mick" Scott of Winston-Salem, NC and Faith Vanhoy Head of Kernersville, NC; his grandchildren, Kimberly Wicker (Matthew) of Greensboro, NC, Michael Head (Raven) of Dallas, TX and Shelby Head of Dallas, TX; his great grandchildren, Blake, Logan, Dimitri, D'Artagnan and Eli; and his siblings, Kenneth D. Vanhoy of Kernersville, NC and Kay Payne of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
