He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Simms and Margaret Simms; and his siblings, Clarence E, John [Jack], Leo, Margaret Newcomb and Dorothy Wuermser.

He is survived by: his wife Merry Tom Simms; his daughters, Deborah Rapson (Jeff) and Dianah Ramsay (Scott); and his grandsons, TJ Rapson, Gavin and Ian Ramsay. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
