He was predeceased by: his wife Rachel Ann Swearingen Holder; his parents, Edgar Lee Holder and Hattie Mae Brown Holder; his son Micheal Holder; and his siblings, Harvey Holder, Lokell Harris, Violet Thompson and Thalia Shoemaker.

He is survived by: his son Mark Holder (Michelle) of Kernersville, NC; his grandsons, Matthew Holder, William Holder and Christopher Holder; his daughter-in-law Pam Holder; and his sister Brenda Gardner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
