He was predeceased by: his father Frank Zimmer; his stepmother Bea; his foster parents, Estle Atwell and Catherine Atwell; his foster siblings, Kay Bogle and Eddie Atwell; his mother-in-law Dorothy Shelton; his niece Amanda Zimmer; his sister-in-law Dianna Etheridge; and his pet Macey.
He is survived by: his son Alex Zimmer; his daughter-in-law Athena; his granddaughter Cierra; his daughter Amanda Jill Lewis; his son-in-law Christopher (Bubba); his grandson Eli; his niece Kerri (TJ); his grandchildren, Elizabeth and JT; his brothers, Charlie, Bob, Ron and Joe Zimmer; his foster brother Dewey (Mike Atwell); and his father-in-law Early Shelton.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Kernersville Chapel - Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory (3950 Macy Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hayworth-Miller (3950 Macy Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284).
