He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Catherine Taylor DeMoss; his children, James Alvin DeMoss Jr., Jefferson Ray DeMoss (Sheila) and Crystal MeLee DeMoss; and his siblings, Dorothy DeMoss Medford and Dwayne DeMoss (Lyndsee). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchild.

“Thank God for Jimmy....great brother-in-law.....we debated politics....heartily and honestly the with a smile he'd tell me just....how wrong I was.. Last fall he asked if I'd help him with something (he loved yardwork) I said sure (I hate yardwork) he showed me a limb over his he-shed....I climbed the ladder, played Twister with a chainsaw and while Bonnie prayed. I sweated and Jimmy pulled limbs away....I got down, he thanked me, probably thinking....pretty easy to get a Democrat out on limb”
