He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Vinson and Evelyne Vinson; his children, Matthew Vinson and Melinda McNaughton; his grandsons, Brent Fowlkes and Jeff Fowlkes; and his brother Joseph Vinson.
He is survived by: his wife Jo; his daughter Susan Jones; his stepson Jamie Kessel (Erin); his brothers, Fred Vinson (Virginia) and Bert Vinson (Becky); his grandchildren, James Corbett Kessel, Burton Mick Kessel and Erin Jones; and his great grandchildren, Bridget Fowlkes, Aniya Carter and DJ Carter.
