He was predeceased by: his wife Valerie Mayes Freeman; his parents, Charlie Freeman and Stella Creed Freeman; his daughters, Nancy Lee Leflett and Judy Kaye Freeman; and his brothers, Charlie Freeman, Leroy Freeman and Jessie Freeman.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Pettit (Jeff), Randy Freeman (Delana) and Ray Freeman; his grandchildren, James Grimes, Anne Grimes, Travis Freeman, Casey Dyles, Ricky Pettit, Zachery Pettit, Stephanie Blanton, Ray Lee Freeman, Nikki Hunt, Heather Freeman and Brittany Freeman; and his sister Mary Lou Freeman.
