He was predeceased by: his father Samuel M. Flippen; and his son Samuel "Sammy" Flippen. He is survived by: his wife Rita Flippen; his children, Tammy Upchurch, Chris Flippen and Debbie Flippen; his grandchildren, Scotty Flippen, Seth Gambill, Hannah Upchurch, Haylee Upchurch, Caylee Cantrell and Emma Flippen; and his siblings, Woody Flippen, Jerry Flippen and Barbara Johnson.
