He was predeceased by: his parents, George Phipps and Eleanor Sanderford Phipps. He is survived by: his wife Alice Singletary Phipps of Kenly, NC; his children, Rodney Lee Phipps Jr. (Pamela) of Midlothian, TX and Sonia A. Phipps of Smithfield, NC; his siblings, Earl Phipps (Rhonda) of Pinehurst, NC and Susan Phipps of Sanford, NC; and his grandchildren, Haleigh Rhodes, Drew Dillard and Kaleb Phipps.
