She was predeceased by: her parents, Bobby Carrol Hicks and Larue Stallings Coppel; her sister Barbara Hocutt; and her nephew Anthony Staples. She is survived by: her husband Donald Cooper; her sisters, Donna Hicks of Lucama and Stacey Jackson (Joe) of South Mills, NC; her stepdaughter Amanda Cooper (Amy Cooper) of Kenly; her stepgrandchildren, James, Jazmine, Mary, Jaylen and Jeremiah; her nieces, Brandi Hicks, Jamie Langston, Courtney Hocutt, Jessica Wilson, Julia Waddell Eason and Alyssia Jackson; her nephew Randy Waddell; and her pet Ray Cooper.
