He is survived by: his wife Betty Hinnant; his children, Elex Hinnant, Jr. and Patricia Jean Barbour of Kenly; his siblings, Steven Hinnant, Kathy Hinnant and Susan Hinnant; and his grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Emily Barbour, Joshua Barbour and Donnie "Trey" Barbour.
